Answers to the Most Frequently Asked Questions

It's okay if you have questions! (Especially if you've never worked with a freelance writer before.)

If your question isn't answered here, feel free to ask me!

How did you learn copywriting?

I'm a proud student of American Writers and Artists Inc. (AWAI).

I've completed several of their top-notch, industry-standard training programs and spent over 10 years immersing myself in the world of direct response copywriting and web marketing.

I'm also AWAI Verified!

Do you use AI?

No, I do not use any AI to write or work on any projects. I realize this may seem limiting to some clients/companies, but the true value of a human-to-human connection simply can't be understated or replaced.

Every word you receive from me is written by me.

Are there any copywriting projects you won't take?

I focus on websites, content, and email copywriting. But, I'm always excited to try a new project. . . If you need something outside my focus area, feel free to ask!

I'll be up-front and honest about whether or not I can meet your need for a project or service. However, please be aware I may have more questions or need more time than when working in more familiar waters.

How do I know that you're legitimate?

Well, aside from your gut instinct - you have my word. I am a legitimate, freelance, professional web copywriter.

Also, I'm AWAI Verified and a member of the Professional Writer's Alliance. You can see samples of my work here.

Finally, I operate on complete honesty and transparency. You can expect every ounce of my skill and professionalism from our very first contact, and from then on.

Do you charge a deposit?

Yes. I charge an up-front deposit equal to 50% of total fees. The balance is due within 21 days of project completion.

How do you charge for my services?

I charge a flat fee for each piece of copywriting, planning, any additional services, etc. You can get more information about fees on the "Fee Ranges" page of the information packet that I send every prospective client.

I usually work on retainer for repeating projects (e-newsletters, for example).

How do I pay you?

I prefer payment via check, direct deposit, or PayPal. If you need to discuss an alternate payment method, we'll talk about it!

What if my project is a tight deadline - do you do rush jobs?

I only take these types of projects if I'm sure I can deliver. Time and resources are precious to both of us. . . I'm good at using them and bad at wasting them.

If you need quick work, Contact Me now - and don't forget to add "Urgent" or "Rush" in the subject line. If I can help, we'll jump in with both feet!

It's go time! Is there anything I can do to help?

Yes!  Any data or information you have on hand can be a goldmine of insight for me. Don't worry, we'll cover this is detail as the project gets going.

I think we may be a great fit! What happens next?

Contact me! Fill out the form as much or as little as you like - all I need is a name, email, and a description of your project. More details are perfectly welcome/very helpful. : )

Then, we'll schedule a free 30-minute interview to discuss the scope and goals for the project.

It sounds like you have a writer's routine of some sort. . .?

Of course! I rely on a cast iron Writing Process to make sure I don't miss a single, crucial step. This way, I'm able to set realistic goals for each phase of the project.

From deadlines and updates to revisions and downtime, a clear plan helps keep a project on track. With all of this squared away, it's no sweat to stay in good touch and rest easy!

How do you format final drafts?

I use Google documents (.docs), plain text (.txt), and PDF. Don't worry, we'll cover formatting early in the planning phase.

*I've found it valuable to submit both plain copy and formatted versions of the project for your team to reference, with a brief explanation of my ideas and/or rationale to make the copy most effective.

What if I'm unhappy with the final draft?

My goal is to avoid this situation with good, clear, written communication during the project.  Still, if the final version of submitted copywriting doesn't meet your expectation, I'm happy to try to resolve the problem!

If you are unhappy with the copy for any reason, I'll do up to three revisions in a 21-day period.

After this time, if you still aren't happy with my work, we have two options:

~One: negotiate a re-write.
Essentially restart the project off fresh, with new fees and time tables.

~Two: terminate the project.
I keep your 50% deposit as a "kill fee" and waive the remaining balance.

We'll need automated marketing/email software. Do you handle the technical side? Suggest a program?

Sadly, no. I only write. When it comes to running your system or technical expertise, your software's customer service folks will need to collaborate with your webmaster. : )

I love your work! How do I leave you a testimonial?

I'm thrilled to receive testimonials - or questions or concerns - via my Contact page. Please contact me anytime, and I'll get back to you within two business days!
